Course Details:

The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) aims to produce disciplined, multi-skilled and creative practitioners; thoughtful actors who want to take responsibility for shaping their own careers.  Students are encouraged to broaden their skills and entrepreneurial outlook.

Year One of the course concentrates on the students building a technique.  Acting classes cover improvisation, scene study, textual analysis, song and non-verbal performance, together with classes in voice/speech, movement, song and dance.  The year ends with a full rehearsal process leading to an in-house performance.

In Year Two students are encouraged to explore beyond their immediate strengths and to apply what they have learned in different mediums and styles such as Physical Storytelling, Radio and Television.  In secondary skills, students undertake a Musical Theatre workshops.  All students also take part in their first Public Performance Project.

In the final year, students practise the skills they have developed over the first two years in a simulated professional environment, gaining experience in producing, directing, developing their own work as well as performing.  There is a strong emphasis on professional preparation, including a full audition portfolio and a final showcase presentation for agents.

The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation Scholarship will be awarded by the as part of the audition/selection process on the combined basis of merit and financial need. Please note students will be means tested for scholarship eligibility. The Scholarship will cover course fees only and will be reviewed on an annual basis. There will be one available Scholarship for the year 2012/13.
