Hallé is a professional and highly renowned orchestra in Manchester who have been fundraising for the capital costs to refurbish a disused church, St Peter's in the Ancoats area, into a dedicated rehearsal and performance venue - The Hallé Centre. St Peter's is a Grade II listed building, centrally based within walking distance of Manchester Piccadilly train station and, once the work is complete, will be used by the Hallé Orchestra, Choir, Youth & Training Choirs, Children's Choir and Youth Orchestra. In January 2013 the Trustees awarded a one-off grant towards the final fit out costs of the centre, specifically the purchase of cello chairs, bass stools and percussion chairs as well as acoustic screens. The Trustees were particularly impressed with the professional guidance and music development opportunities the Hallé provides to young people from Manchester and beyond.
