Greenock Arts Guild Ltd - Andrew Lloyd Webber attends topping out ceremony

On Thursday 16th February 2012, Andrew Lloyd Webber attended the topping out ceremony at the Beacon Arts Centre in Greenock.  The Foundation awarded a grant of £100,000 to the centre's youth theatre project last year.  Andrew was able to meet some of the young people of Greenock who are benefitting from this project.

Elliot McKelvie, chairman of Greenock Arts Guild Ltd and pictured above with Andrew, said "The topping out of The Beacon marks a hugely important step in a project which has taken eight years to develop.  We are now at the final stages of fulfilling our vision for a vibrant, inclusive focal point for arts activities in Inverclyde and beyond.  The Beacon is a wonderful example of how a community can pull resources to deliver a building which will be a prominent, new asset for the Scottish arts scene".
